Wild Camping (Fail!) at Ivinghoe Beacon | The Chilterns, March 2020

This was not a successful night! I carried way too much weight (I was trying a 2.5kg army artic sleeping bag - which actually didn't keep me warm at all, plus my professional camera gear), my new Thermarest Neoair Xtherm sleeping mat was constantly deflating which was not good in the frosty temperatures and effectively made it useless - I didn't make it to dawn on this one because the cold got me! Luckily I was parked only a mile away - always have an escape plan when trying out extra weight or new gear. And preferably test it out at home first if you can. This was my first time trying out my new tent, the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2, which I LOVE!

It was hot and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to try cowboy camping with no tent or tarp on Dunstable Downs. All was going great, I was loving gazing up at the sky from my sleeping bag, until the dew started to settle and the resulting moisture everywhere left me soggy, sliding around and basically sliding down the hill, haha. I had to head home around 2am, still, I had a great time and learned a few things (take a shelter)
